Job Description

Twister Operator

Primary Duties: Patrol assigned twisters, repair end breaks, creel new supply packages, and doff twisted packages.

Tools Required: Apron, scissors, brass hook, hand knotter, threader, ear plugs, and marking pen.

Materials Used: Supply packages, cones, wax rolling box, pin trucks, and flag cards/flag board.

Supervision Exercised: None; receives instructions from Supervisor or Shift Lead Person. Shift Technician to provide follow-up.

Job Procedures:
1. Follow all established Plant Safety rules.
2. Patrol assigned machines and inspect package quality.
3. Repair end breaks, verify twist.
4. Doff full packages and identify by machine and spindle number using proper shift colored marker.
5. Creel in new supply package; yarn should unwind in a clockwise directions.
6. Start a new cone. “Pull Twist”, wrap twisted yarn around cone, place transfer tail in notch, put cone in cradle, and start up new package.
7. Place full package on pin trucks.
8. Assist with frame piece up after breakdowns.
9. Collect new supply packages from spinning or doubler.
10. Lay up extra supply packages on assigned machines, if available.
11. Flag bad spindles. Hang a flag card on the spindle and record problem on the flag board.
12. Place empty tubes in storage boxes at spinning.
13. Service waxing units, if yarn is being waxed.
14. Maintain cleaning and housekeeping on assigned machines-Wipe head ends and take-up shaft covers, and remove any cradle laps.
15. Perform all other duties as directed by management.

Minimum Job Requirements: Must be able to read and write. Must have basic math and computer skills. Must be cleared by Occupational Nurse for vision and color vision.

Follow all Safety Rules, and comply with the Job Safety & Health Analysis (JSHA). All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be used as required. Any accident or near miss must be reported immediately.
