Maintenance Technician

Department: Maintenance

Job Summary:
Responsible for maintenance and repair of plant equipment.

Two to five years previous experience as maintenance technician. Job specific experience in electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, plumbing, pumps, welding, etc. as required for the position. Ability to read and interpret schematics and / or blueprints, knowledge of and experience using power and hand tools, reading rulers, levels and other measurement tools. Good organizational skills, time management skills, communication skills. Applicable certifications are preferred.

Specific Duties:
1) Performs maintenance in plant as assigned by Supervisor.
a. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment at designated time.
b. Maintains or repairs plant equipment as directed by supervisor; assists in alterations and/or additions to plant equipment.
c. Can follow instructions as set forth by supervisor.
2) Has basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and tools of trade:
a. Properly utilizes power and hand tools to perform repairs and maintenance work.
b. Knowledge of how to read rulers, levels, etc.
3) Safety
a. Uses proper barriers and signs to insure safety of fellow employees
b. Follows applicable safety guidelines and ‘Right to Know’ laws.
c. Turns off electrical current connected to electrical equipment when working on that equipment.
d. Ensures that electrical equipment and parts are stored properly; all exposed wires are insulated.

1. Can handle working in hot/cold environments
2. Can lift up to 30lbs. on a continual basis.
3. Can work overtime.
4. Can handle working in a fast paced environment.
5. Can stand for long periods of time.
6. Is punctual and is in work area at designated time.
7. Attend work regularly.
8. Practice good housekeeping in work areas.
9. Cooperate with supervisor.
10. Get along with other workers.
11. Other duties as assigned.
