Laborer

JOB TITLE: Assembler – Production Worker
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
DEPARTMENT: Fabrication
REPORTS TO: Fab Supervisor
SCHEDULE: Day Shift: Mon – Fri, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Evening Shift: Mon – Thu, 10:30 pm – 7:00 am
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for using a variety of hand and power tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment, to assemble and test fabricated metal assemblies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Follow production schedule presented by management.

2. Follow assembly instructions, processes and procedures.

3. Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance.

4. Produce parts to performance standards.

5. Inspect parts to insure conformance with customer requirements.

6. Facilitate work-order paper flow in accordance with ISO quality standards.

7. Safely operate a jib crane to handle materials.

8. Keep work area clean and presentable.

9. Perform all other duties assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to read and comprehend procedures written in English.

2. Ability to work with and get along with a team of coworkers.

3. Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids.

4. Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed.

5. Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures.

6. Safety conscious behavior.

7. Excellent attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to use fingers to pickup, handle, and feel small parts.

2. Lift, carry, push and or pull 1 – 40 lbs frequently.

3. Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.

4. Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day.

5. Ability to work in a 55 – 88 degree Fahrenheit work environment.

6. Work in a fast paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes and other appropriate protective clothing.
Packer

Position Summary: Plans packaging production by obtaining orders; gathering supplies


Description of Duties:

• Documents production by completing logs.
• Ensures that cartons are properly filled, sealed and package coded.
• Verifies packaging quality by comparing packaged product to specifications and samples, reworking or rejecting unacceptable packaging.
• Packages products by loading supplies, observing and adjusting machine operation, remove jams.
• Help package the product in the form in which it will be sent out.
• Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance and calling for repairs.
• Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards.
• Remove finished packaged items from machine and separate rejected items.
• Operates (may set-up) equipment on production line, carton cleaner, coders, filler, packing machine, weight scale, pallet stacker robot, shrink wrap, metal detector, case sealer and ensures all is running properly.
• Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and reports all problems to supervisor.
• Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pile-ups, jams and reports all problems to supervisor.
• Count and record finished and rejected items.
• Responsible for monitoring food safety.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Computer Skills, math and written skills required.
• Able to lift 30-40 pounds of raw material bags.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task on any type of projects.
• Meet packing deadlines.
