Job Description

Provides support to the Distribution Center in compliance with company and client policies and procedures; maintain a safe and professional work environment. The Material Handlers assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the department. The Material Handler carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: receiving, case, sorter, hotpick, returns, shipping, Value Added Services (VAS), residual, inventory control, special projects, seeding, packing, and/or trouble.
• Conducts daily pre and post shift inspection checklist of equipment; notifies Supervisor of any issues/concerns
• Accurately pull and process cartons/cases/totes as directed while starting, moving, operating in any way power equipment the individual has been trained, certified, and licensed on while using applicable required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Sort and stock product accurately, timely and safely in relation to size, weight, height, as directed by SOP, etc. on pallets
• Follow all safety policies and procedures; report safety violations and/or safety concerns to management immediately
• Work cooperatively, professionally and productively with other Material Handlers, Warehouse Associates, Supervisors and Management
• Follow company policy and procedure
• Performs other duties/tasks as assigned

This position requires an extremely perceptive person, who is able to follow detailed instructions. Must be able to work efficiently with others both within and outside of the department. Must be computer literate, have working knowledge of basic math and reading.
1. High School diploma or GED.
2. Prior related experience in warehousing preferred.
3. Prior operation of power equipment including forklift, turret truck, reach lift (order/cherry picker), walkie rider preferred.

The employee is continuously required to start, move, operate power equipment the individual has been trained, certified, and licensed on in open and/or narrow areas around other equipment in operation as well as pedestrians. The employee is frequently to continuously required to use hands along with fingers to handle or feel, and grab, grasp, push, and pull based on the department. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms or lift product; and may occasionally climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, or lift material or equipment. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more (with assistance). Material/equipment that may be lifted may be heavy or awkward. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to work twelve (12) hour rotating shifts to include overtime, weekends, and holidays.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles and pedestrians. Will be exposed to noise, and may be in an area that is not climate controlled and is exposed to heat, cold, humidity, open areas. The employee will be exposed to dust, cardboard, paper, plastic, various materials on apparel and footwear, wood pallets, packing tape, cleaning products such as Lysol wipes, as well as cartons of product that may have become wet, damaged, and/or treated prior to or during shipment from overseas.
