Job Description

Board Loader –
Job Summary:

Responsible for moving extrusions from carts to buffing boards properly for polishing. Stacks buffed extrusions carefully to ensure quality finish.

Specific Duties:

1. Following Shop Orders and Blueprints of extrusions
a. Knowledge of the process the extrusion has been through prior to coming to the department as well as how it will be handled once the extrusion leaves the department.
b. Reads shop orders and blueprints to process the extrusion.
c. Correctly determine the exposed surface of the extrusion.

2. Procedures for loading and unloading extrusions:
a. Load extrusions onto buffing board in order to have the exposed area properly buffed, using proper board for each type of extrusion.
b. Unload and stack buffed extrusions to avoid damaging the exposed surfaces of the extrusion.
c. Properly wipe down surface of extrusion prior to or after buffing as needed.
d. Keep buffer boards loaded for continuous operation of buffing machines.

3. Quality
a. Inspects the exposed area for proper finish.
b. Follows proper procedure if improper finish detected (notify supervisor).
c. Uses appropriate measurement tools and gauges as needed to check quality of extrusion.
