Job Description

Evaluation of Job Duties:
•Inspect forklift.
•Open up laydowns in sequential numerical order and number each bale with the appropriate bale number. All fiber should be removed from bale wire before the wires are placed in the metal dumpster.
•Cotton bales must be blown off free from dirt, oil, grease, and any other contaminants. All bales must be free of contaminants before entering the opening room. No soiled bale should be placed in a laydown.
•After laydowns are opened, the appropriate number of reclaim bales must be staged for the laydowns.
•Place reclaim tickets from all opened bales in the ticket box to be consumed in the AS 400. Loss of a bale ticket may result in disciplinary action.
•Lay cotton bales in the laydown area according to the current bale configuration. Bales must be laid in the correct order. If a bale is soiled while being staged, the contaminant must be cleared. All bales must be marked in the correct numerical order.
•Thoroughly clean around the laydown when finished making the laydown.
•Place all bale wrap in appropriate containers or bale press, depending upon the type of bagging.
•Feed the waste hopper as needed.
• Doff, weigh tag, log, bag, and store waste bales. Record all bale weights and numbers on the bale log sheet. Loss of a bale ticket may result in disciplinary action.
•Bale up bale bagging as needed. Weigh, ticket, and place bales by the scale. Place the ticket stub in the ticket box and record all bale weights and ticket numbers on the bale log sheet.
•Empty metal dump buggies at the end of the day.
•Consult the supervisor regarding the number of laydowns to stage and when supplies need to be ordered. Any time a laydown is staged, an equal number of bales must be opened to provide the next day shift with an adequate number of open bales.
•Sweep the entire job at least 4 times per shift.
•Bale press should be blown off and waste hoppers must be dusted off .
• Report any unsafe conditions or practices to management immediately
•Perform any other duties assigned by management

Additional Job Duties:
•Maintain Continental Bale Presses in working order – answering all alarms, bag, and tag all bales taken out of the bale press and put in designated areas.

12 hr night shift, must be able to pass a pulmonary test, clean background with good work history
