Pete Byford - EVP / Legal Counsel

Mr. Byford currently serves as General Counsel and Executive Vice President of S.B. Phillips Co., Inc. In his position, Mr. Byford provides legal counsel to the company as well as participating on the executive management team.

Prior to joining the company, Mr. Byford was the principal of Byford Law, LLC, a boutique law firm providing general counsel services to small and mid cap businesses and their owners.

Mr. Byford’s experience also includes serving as the President of Banker Exchange, LLC, a national qualified intermediary for Section 1031 tax deferred exchanges.

Prior to joining Banker Exchange, Mr. Byford was a tax and corporate attorney with the law firm of Leatherwood Walker Todd & Mann, P.C., where he advised business clients with respect to all aspects of their business operations.

Mr. Byford received his LLM in taxation from the University of Denver and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is also a graduate of the Citadel with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. He is actively involved in the thriving Greenville Community and has previously served as the Treasurer of the Advisory Board to the Salvation Army of Greenville.
