WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. These skills are valuable for any occupation-skilled or professional-and at any level of education. Job profiling identifies the skills and WorkKeys skill levels an individual must have to perform successfully in a position. WorkKeys assessments are used to determine the skills and levels of incumbents and applicants.
WorkKeys uses a focus group format that:
· Consists of subject matter experts, those incumbent workers in the job being studied
· Produces a customized task list that accurately and completely describes the job
· Establishes the tasks that are most important to performing the job
· Determines which WorkKeys skills are required to perform each task
· Identifies skill levels necessary for entry level and effective performance on the job
